The Fluidigm CyTOF XT is an advanced automated mass cytometry system designed for high-parameter single-cell analysis in immunology, immuno-oncology, infectious disease research, translational research, and other life science applications.
CyTOF technology combines principles of flow cytometry with time-of-flight mass spectrometry, using antibodies tagged with stable metal isotopes rather than fluorescent labels. This approach enables highly multiplexed cellular profiling while minimizing the spectral overlap and compensation requirements associated with conventional fluorescence-based cytometry.
The CyTOF XT features 135 mass detection channels across a 75–209 amu mass range and supports sustained acquisition rates of up to 500 events per second. Its automated sample introduction system incorporates a dual syringe drive and chilled sample carousel capable of accommodating twelve 5 mL tubes and one 15 mL tube.
Originally manufactured by Fluidigm Corporation, the CyTOF product line is now supported under Standard BioTools Inc.
This system was purchased and installed in March 2023 and was only lightly used between 2023 and 2024. In September 2024, the system was tested, certified/qualified, professionally deinstalled, and crated by the manufacturer, Standard BioTools.
